This artwork is inspired by a nostalgic song my mother wrote in the 1990s, titled Abakobwa B’iwacu (Our Girls). The piece beautifully captures the essence of the lyrics, which celebrate the everyday strength, rhythm, and grace of our girls as they rise early each morning to carry out various household chores. From fetching water and feeding cows to sweeping the yard and preparing food, each figure reflects a scene from the song,a visual homage to the hardworking spirit of Rwandan women and girls.
